Christmas in September

In recent years I've been horrified to find the shops stocking Christmas goods even before the official end of summer and this year has been no exception. Who on earth needs Christmas wrapping paper in September?!?! And how come then that I really like this place? The Nutcracker is one of at least three shops in the Old Town - two of which are on the Royal Mile - where you can buy Christmas decorations year-round! Surely that's just wrong - or not?

These Christmas shops that sell year-round aren't so bad really. You at least know that it's a Christmas shop and that's the sort of merchandise you'll find no matter if it's mid-July. But these other stores that aren't Christmas shops....shame on stocking Christmas items in September while it's late Summer/early Fall.

There used to be a shop in Scottsdale Arizona that was a year round Christmas shop. I bought many ornaments there that I still have.

I don't mind the year round Christmas shops, but I personally wouldn't be able to set foot into them until at least the start of fall!
I bet there's alot of really neat Christmas things in there though!

Christmas is no longer whatever it was. It is whatever it is. It's a commercial theme. A color scheme. The only thing about it that should start in September is the whittling of a marionette for your niece. Bah-humbug.

I hate the idea of the shops - but enjoy going in them - perhaps because my daughter loves them so much.
Not the main reason to visit Edinburgh though!
