Colours & Comics

This little row of shops on Candlemaker Row has clearly seen better days, but the colourful exteriors still manage to turn what is essentially a dreary little street down to the Grassmarket into something that is essentially Edinburgh.

Whewww!,
It's nice to be back in the land of the living, (sic).
After the last few days, as you know, time has stood still, down here.
Any how, it was great to see your happy smile in a time of some adversity. Merci beaucoup !

Y' know, there is more of that nice stone that you described, here. It looks like the building was extended with cleaner, newer stone in more recent times; or was it done in a different stone?
Perhaps the Row fell into decline with the loss of the candle-making trade. It sure looks bright and cheerful nowadays.
And it must be very pleasant with summer approaching.
Lovely shot, Dido.

Love the colours on these shop fronts.

I like the colors on the shops as well; it makes them seem fresh and lively, even if they have been around for a while. Oh, and how funny to have a store called Deadhead Comics -- fans of the Grateful Dead I assume!

I especially like that shade of blue. Everything seems to be in good repair.

I know this place because my partner is a cartoonist. You have really captured those fabulous vivid colours so well. Too long since I have been this way.

I really like this photo. And I love Edinburgh, by the way. I was there a few weeks ago, for the first (but certainly not the last!) time and we stayed in the Budget Backpackers Hostel, just down Candlemaker Row, at Cowgatehead. We've walked up this street a couple of times, e.g. to Greyfriar's Kirkyard.

Kind regards from Holland!
