This tree can't quite make up its mind. The south-facing side has coloured whereas the north-facing side is still green - can anyone explain to me why this is?

It's got sunburn, obviously, due to the intense sunlight we get here ;o)
We have the same phenomenon in places. I can't explain it but I know you've been Googling like mad and will explain fall colours and the meaning of life to all of us in due course.
I think that the frost has gotten to the unprotected side and that causes the change of colors :)
Rooth from california
What I do know is that leaves near to lamp posts are the last ones to stay on the tree....:)
very interesting effect ,beautiful contrast !
