It occurred to me that I haven’t really shown you any pictures of our most famous street and best-known tourist attraction, the Royal Mile! As I will be on holiday for the next two weeks I will take you on a tour of the Royal Mile, show you some of the buildings and the people that inhabit this wonderful space. Do come back and leave your comments, I’ll catch up with you all when I get back!

Looks like a great street to shop on. Is it a pedestrian mall? It looks like autos aren't allowed.
Great photos of a very beautiful city. I lived in Edinburgh for a few months back in 2002, I really miss the place and its people.
Clueless: Part of it is now pedestrianised but cars are allowed on the rest of it. It's the oldest street in Edinburgh and very much the heart of the Old Town. Come back for more pictures within the next few days!
Stu: I know what you mean, I moved here temporarily in 2002 and never left!
looks grand! looking forward to the tour!
That's an excellent street.
Wonderful, old cobblestones and an absence of ugly street furniture.
The 5-storey buildings cast a shadow on the pavement but the church spire does not !
Mmmmmh !!
The Scots must have a secret weapon ?
(.....besides monstres and kilts.)
I've heard of the street and seen photos, but not had a "personal tour." I'm looking forward to it.
What a great invitation. Can't wait your story about it.
Indeed, me too - looking forward to the tour. I have heard about it but to get an insider's opinion will be a pleasure. I already like the proportions just from your first image. However, if there is no street furniture, how does one sit and contemplate?
Enjoy your break! I guess you have automated 14 posts just like Jilly and Sally. I will see if I have the energy to do that when I go to Europe for 4 weeks in the Northern Autumn.
Really like ths long shot of a most beautiful city.
